OCEAN GROVE - The Ocean Grove boardwalk will be getting a big upgrade ahead of summer. The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association announced Tuesday it would spend nearly half a million dollars to replace 600 linear feet of the old wooden boardwalk at its south end.

"We are delighted to start the process of replacing the old boardwalk on the South End with new materials that will match the rest of the boardwalk,” Jamie Jackson, executive director and chief operating officer for the camp meeting association said. “It is a much-needed upgrade and we look forward to this spring when the entire boardwalk is finished with new Trex decking."

The Ocean Grove Boardwalk suffered heavy damage during superstorm Sandy in 2012.

As a result of the boardwalk replacement work, there will be no parking between Broadway and Embury Streets along the east side of Ocean Avenue starting this week.

The project is expected to be completed in May.
